It’s always gratifying and humbling to see people use your ideas to improve their lives and the lives of others.
And the best part is, I learn so much from their perspective.
Case in point.
I recently came across a nice little article by Scott Christ, founder and CEO of Pure Food Company, on how to achieve your goals. He shares some simple yet effective tips for achieving any type of goal – professional or personal.
You can read the full article here, but these are the main points, with a bit of commentary:
- Set HARD goals – Heartfelt, Required, Animated, and Difficult
- Map out a plan – create a roadmap to keep you motivated and moving
- Visualize and reflect – you’ve got to see it before you believe it and regularly stop to consider what worked and what didn’t. What do you need to keep, start, stop doing?
- Write yourself a letter – set deadlines and document them to hold yourself accountable
- Take action every day – set and achieve small, daily goals. Don’t be rigid though. Be willing to adapt your schedule to achieve your objective. Success is simply an accumulation of daily, intentional actions. Just be sure you do what matters most to move you ahead. See #3 above.
- Tell others – one of the best ways to drive commitment, and who knows, they may join you on your journey. Always better to travel with a partner who will support you and lift you up when you fall down.
- Plan for setbacks – challenging goals always involve setbacks. While we can’t predict the future, we can plan for it. Create contingency plans. Build resiliency. Learn from your setbacks, and remember, failing at something doesn’t mean you are a failure.
- Evaluate your progress every week – what worked? What didn’t? What can I do differently? Again, reference #3 above.
To your health and happiness!
