What's Your Adventure?
June 5th, 2015
Summer is a time for adventure. A time to do something new, something a little scary, something exhilarating.

For me it's rock climbing. For you it could be a starting a new hobby or new job.

Whatever it is, adventure involves the unknown. You never know how it will turn out. That is what makes it so compelling and meaningful.

We find comfort in safety, and courage in adventure. We need both.  But we get into trouble when our desire for comfort controls us. It causes us to play it safe. To avoid risk is to give up the opportunity for growth.

Just as with our muscles, we only develop when we are being stretched beyond where we currently are.

Adventure occurs when we create space for something unexpected to occur. Adventure can't be planned or programmed, but it can be experienced with openness and curiosity.

Savor the moment-by-moment experience of discovery and excitement.

You only go this way once. Embrace today.

This summer, step out of your proverbial comfort zone and do something new and slightly scary.  It is here that we are most alive and at our best. It is also here that we discover ourselves, as well as, the myriad possibilities that life has to offer.

Here's to your next adventure!
