I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Karen Wolrand for my book. If you've never seen Karen's work, you need to.
She's a phographer, writer, and speaker. You can watch her TED talk here. Karen travels the world taking photos and shares her stories and insights with audiences near and far. She's pretty awesome.
We talked about everything from what energizes us to the wonders of travel and what it feels like to grow older.
The turning point in Karen's life came when she asked herself one simple question - "What do I love to do?" Already a succesful attorney, she wanted something more.
As she reflected upon this question, it became clear to her that she is energized by three things. Taking photographs, writing, and sharing her experiences with others.
What do you love to do? Have you asked yourself this question recently? If not, now is the time. Once you discover what energizes you - what fills you with zest - start doing it. You don't have to wait. Make it a hobby. Or if you are more serious, create a side project around your passion Then, when you are ready, you can start building your life around it.
All of our journeys are different but the pathway to joy is the same. Karen Walrond sums it up best - "Do what you love as much as you can."
I couldn't agree more.
And along the way, be sure to...
Learn to see beauty in the small things.
Leave the world a better place.
And above all, give thanks for the blessings in your life.
